Some snapshots of Thanksgiving weekend

Favorite Christmas decoration. Look at his adorable little face!

I can remember this music box from my earliest Christmases. It makes me giddy every time I pull it down from the attic on Thanksgiving.

It's called Happiness Hill! I found this book in a little thrift store this weekend. I know I didn't need it, but it has such a charming front cover, and is filled with the most delightful poems, pictures, and stories...I just couldn't leave it there. And it was only 50 cents. Do you see the little boy bringing his friendly pet dragon up the hill? The dragon is wearing a purple bow! How cute is that? How could I resist buying this?! Now I think that makes 332 books squashed in my tiny bedroom. I think I have a sickness, but I don't care.

"Believe". I actually have never believed in Father Christmas, but it's fun to pretend.

Oh, the beauty! The picture just doesn't do it justice. It was radiant, majestic, glorious...

The first box of Christmas goodies!

I love this teacup, and I love the huge scoop of whipped cream I dumped in it.

A fun, loud game of catchphrase at the Rosenthal's on Thanksgiving. I wish I had taken a video of Jenna--she was hysterical.

There is another one on the other door that says "giving". I just didn't feel like uploading it. So cute.

Good food and friends.

This actually wasn't taken this weekend, but it's so beautiful I had to share it. We are always seeing painted buntings in out backyard.

This is from Halloween. They are both just so darn cute!

As you can see, it was a wonderful weekend. We are getting our tree this week. I will post pictures as soon as I can.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Counting my blessings...

8. The reflection of a candle flame in my bedroom window.

9. A yummy slice of ooey, gooey, pumpkin butter cake (Paula Deen's recipe) made by a friend.

10. A cold front coming in on Thanksgiving day! Woohoo!

11. Chris Rice's "Living Room Sessions" CD.

12. Watching a cozy movie with my family last night.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving weekend!

Gobble, gobble, gobble

A very talented co-worker brought these to work today. They are so adorable. If I find the time, I think I will be making some this weekend.

Movemer 12, 1998

We spent last evening looking through some of our old photos, cards, doo-dads, and stuff. I came across this. It was written in "Movemer 12, 1998". We were just the cutest things.

I have nothing much to say. I'm just trying to stay in the habit of blogging.

We sang this song at church yesterday. I love it.

You are good, You are good
When there's nothing good in me
You are love, You are love
On display for all to see
You are light, You are light
When the darkness closes in
You are hope, You are hope
You have covered all my sin

You are peace, You are peace
When my fear is crippling
You are true, You are true
Even in my wandering
You are joy, You are joy
You're the reason that I sing
You are life, You are life,
In You death has lost it's sting

Oh, I'm running to your arms,
I'm running to arms
The riches of your love
Will always be enough
Nothing compares to Your embrace
Light of the world forever reign

You are more, You are more
Than my words will ever say
You are Lord, You are Lord
All creation will proclaim
You are here, You are here
In your presence I'm made whole
You are God, You are God
Of all else I'm letting go

Oh, I'm running to your arms
I'm running to arms
The riches of your love
Will always be enough
Nothing compares to Your embrace
Light of the world forever reign

My heart will sing
no other name
Jesus, Jesus

Oh, I'm running to your arms
I'm running to arms
The riches of your love
Will always be enough
Nothing compares to Your embrace
Light of the world forever reign

I went and saw the Off Broadway Beauty & the Beast show on Saturday. It was rather disappointing. I felt like they squandered the opportunity of telling a powerful story. Instead they turned it into a slap-stick comedy (sooo not my thing). The costumes and music were beautiful, but overall I was not impressed. Oh, well. Too bad I learned it the expensive way.

I....

...am near the end of a very good book, Charlotte's Web. What a wonderful book about sacrifice and friendship. I love Wilbur's attitude towards life, his innocence, his kind spirit. I love Charlotte's courage and willingness to do anything and everything for someone she loves. I love Fern for finding happiness in the things that count, and investing in the things that matter. This is a must read for everyone. It doesn't matter how old you are.

...am being trained in new areas at work. It's exciting to be trusted with more responsibilities. Plus, I get to work more with one of my favorite peoples. :)

... am looking forward to greeting all of our very-much-missed Christmas decorations next weekend. The crocheted snowflakes, the vintage & sparkly Father Christmases, the pine garlands....I'm getting giddy just thinking about it!

...am drinking a cup of spiced, lemony tea. MmMmM!

...am going to see the Beauty & the Beast Off-Broadway show tomorrow with Gladis and Yudy. Belle is ONE Disney princess that I think makes an excellent role model. ;)

...Love this quote I happened upon a few days ago.

"Come along inside...we'll see if tea & buns can make the world a better place."

-The Wind in the Willows

I do think that this will be my next read.

...am thankful for the windows in front of my desk. I could be sitting in a cubicle right now surrounded by drab walls. But instead I get to look out and see gloomy clouds hanging, Trees dancing in the silent wind, and rain lightly falling. It's quite picturesque.

...love this season of Thanksgiving. I so often forget to be thankful. But at this time of year, I am constantly being reminded to be more aware of my blessings and to be grateful.

...ate a mini twix bar just now. Should I go for another one?
